Recent reports reveal a worrying surge in the number of children experiencing homelessness across New South Wales. Alarming figures show that NSW now accounts for the highest number of unaccompanied homeless children nationwide — a reminder of the urgent need for stronger support systems, housing solutions, and community care.

⚠️ Shock Number

Nearly 1 in 3 people using NSW homelessness services is a child under 18!

A startling new report reveals that in the 2023–24 financial year, 22,286 children and teens under 18 accessed Specialist Homelessness Services in New South Wales—making up almost one-third (32.8%) of all service users in the state. Of that number, 6,108 were unaccompanied by an adult—underscoring a growing crisis of youth homelessness in NSW.
